The Columbus Branch Library in Hell’s Kitchen has been closed for more than a year for renovation. Work is going at crawl to get this branch, which serves a mostly low income community, back up and running. I hope our City Council Representative, Christine Quinn, our Mayor, Mike Bloomberg, and whoever runs the New York Public Library System can look into this and give this project the push it needs to get this library open ASAP.

As I was watching this I was thinking about Jonny as a future news reporter, breaking ground by simply reporting on the vital issues of the day, without all the bells and whistles of showmanship that the media is bogged down in these days. I thought of Walter Cronkite who used to sign off the news by saying, “That’s the way it is.” Well, change that “is” to . . . “was. … But maybe people with intergrity - i.e. one Jonny G. can help bring us all back to that place where intergrity was more important than image. Thank you Jonny for always being a good role-model.
